Scholarships of Local 2459
HARRY LEECH SCHOLARSHIPS
At the March 1997 meeting we started the annual
offering of two $250 scholarships to the children,
stepchildren and adopted children of the full dues
paying members of Local 2459. In 2007 the amount
was raised to $500. This is for those who are
or will be attending any accredited institution of
higher learning such as a community college, college,
or a recognized trade or technical school. This is
open to both those students already in school or those
about to enter in the year. The recipient must
have successfully completed one full semester of the
school and maintain at least a C in all classes
before the scholarship is awarded. All of the
scholarships previously won have been successfully
awarded. The winners are chosen by drawing the name
out of a container at a general meeting. All students
have an equal chance and enough time to enter.
